Scientist finds fossilized claw of man-sized sea scorpion:

"We have known for some time that the fossil record yields monster millipedes, super-sized scorpions, colossal cockroaches, and jumbo dragonflies. But we never realized until now just how big some of these ancient creepy-crawlies were."

The rest of the story, sadly without a photo of the actual fossil.

The actual list goes up to forty and I'm surprised that Massage Therapist isn't even on there. It's funny because they aaaaaalmost got it right. Even though there are similarities and overlap between what I do and Chiropractic and Physical Therapy, they approach the musculoskeletal system differently enough that they don't appeal to me which I why I didn't bold them.

I don't think I could actually be a vet or a vet tech because I can't stand to see an animal in pain. People? Fine. You can talk to people and tell them you are trying to help them, animals are tougher. Also it would speed me on my way towards Lady With Too Many Cats and I'm saving that for my later years.

Also: One of those things is not like the others.

    pain in the butt
    *Sigh*

I've always been fond of spiders. I'll catch and release whenever I find one in the house, and respect their webs no matter where they are. I've pulled over and found a bush to place one in when it was in my car, and gotten them out of high traffic areas if I thought they'd be trampled. Well, I do these things with all kinds of buggy creatures (except ants. I squash ants. I admit it.)

But I have a particular soft spot for spiders.

One of them took that literally while I was sleeping the night before last, because I woke up with a bite. On my butt. I went to the doctor this morning who gave me antibiotics and told me to apply a hot compress so the infection will come to the surface. It was too deep to lance, about which I feel slightly relieved, since I don't like the sound of that. Also? I got painkillers. Helloooo Vicadin.

We don't know for sure it was a spider, but I haven't really seen anyone else bitey around the house.

    Ow.
